I am very pleased with Stamper Optometry and their excellent customer service! I have been wearing contact/ glasses all my life. I’ve had many optometrist but Stamper Optometry has been the BEST! I have an astigmatism and have been very self- conscious with my contact and glasses wear. Since I’ve been with Stamper, I’ve built up my confidence to wear glasses and be provided “specialty” lenses for my eye sight. I am the happiest client and give Stamper optometry 10 stars! I honestly recommend this business the doctors are caring, empathetic, helpful and joyful! Thank you Stamper optometry for your service! Dr Stamper’s office came highly recommended to me and I can see why! I saw Dr Golden who was very kind, thorough and knowledgeable and patient with my many questions! The person who helped me pick out frames was also very helpful. I will definitely be going here from now on. I had a wonderful experience at Stamper Optometry! They took me on a same-day appointment and everyone I met was so kind and friendly. I also really appreciated how thorough the optometrist was. I recently moved back to SF from NYC and guess was used to the quick, 15 minute appointments you get at Warby Parker. It was truly a breath of fresh air and I walked away so impressed and happy. Dr. Stamper is the best! I've been going there for more years than I can remember — over 30, for sure. I've kept going there even since moving to Oakland. They are always great. Dr. Stamper clearly really cares about optometry and eyes and is always up on the latest. They do all the important tests and more. I hope they stay in business a long time so I can keep going there! Thorough, best eye examination compared to others I've had. Staff is friendly and outgoing and the frame selections are amazing. So happy this place was recommended by our neighbors. Been coming here for years. Great and fast service and a decent selection of frames for my gigantic head. My last time in, I got the whole checkup and new frames and was done within 30ish minutes. Bruce Stamper needs parents that must teach him MANNER lessons and go to school! Bruce is extremely rude and incoherent and should Not be around people. He is so ignorant and wasted my precious money on malpractice I am really upset about my experience at Stamper Optometry. I really did not have an unpleasant experience with them until now. I have Keratoconus and I have been getting my contacts from them for about 3 yrs. I went in for my annual eye exam and contacts, they never contacted me to come in for my contacts. When I contacted them to see if my contacts had arrived and to schedule a fit appointment, they told me they will contact me back. I never heard from them again. I contacted them again was put on hold and was told she need to investigate, when the receptionist came back on the phone she told me they will get back to me because they needed to investigate further. I asked the receptionist what was the issue and she couldn’t give me an explanation and said she informed her manager was aware of situation and will contact me once she investigates further. I have been without contacts months now. As a patient I have the right know what is going on with my contacts. I will not be returning! Overall I've had the best experience so far in town for prescription glasses. Selection of frames is good, larger than in many other fancier shops; sales assistants are competent, professional, and patient; visits with the optometrists satisfactory and accurate, with detailed and careful explanations; front desk service is corteous and attentive, albeit not the fastest at times because of the high volume of clients. They are also very good at reminding of your appointment. The only reason I'm not giving the full 5 stars is that glasses bought at this, as at any other independent eyeware shop, are always overpriced compared with the "real" value you might get online or at big vix stores. Therefore, 4 stars is as far as you can go with this kind of retail business. I've been a patient of Dr. David Stamper for years. He is smart, friendly, and super chill. Stamper Optometry is tech-forward, and really on top of everything. Great eyeglass selection, and warm, efficient staff throughout. Highest recommendation! The staff was professional and friendly. The Doctor was very thorough and knowledgeable, he answered all my questions and went out of his way to show me diagrams and explain everything. Also, the staff that helped me choose my frames was patient with me and I did not feel rushed or pressured to make a decision. I will definitely be returning. Good doctor for Kerataconus and difficult contact lenses but frustratingly bad operational procedures and customer service. I went in for my exam and they're now withholding my lenses until I complete another exam. This would be fine if they had time available soon after this initial exam but there is a complete lack of scheduling flexibility. I waiting for several weeks for my contacts to come in. Now they are providing me times 4-6 weeks out that I cannot make due to work scheduling. Meanwhile i'm out of contacts and can't see. They should really park more space in their scheduling for follow up exams and be flexible in emergency situations. i've been using stamper optometry for nearly 20 years. i visit annually and have always had nothing but exemplary service. the staff are great and always deal with my "what frame do i want?" where i nearly look at every frame in the place. can we talk patience! from a medical standpoint, the exams are professional and thorough and i am able to always end up with new glasses that work with my vision. they also diagnosed me with a cataract and made recommendations on how to handle that worked wonderfully through a recommended ophthalmologist. my eyes and vision are so important to me and i trust stamper to keep me seeing clearly. thanks to all the staff at stamper! Everyone is so nice. I have been going to this eye doctor for years. Answer all my questions. I've been coming here for the past three years and couldn't be more pleased. Dr. Stamper and the other optometrists are highly skilled and explain in an easy to understand way what's going on with your eyes. They also have this awesome machine that photographs your eyes without them being dilated. Their frame selection is amazing! The most extensive selection of high-end and cutting edge frames in SF. They also have more reasonable options if you desire. I always tend to walk out with a new set of frames as I just can't resist - their selection is so fantastic! :) The staff that helps to fit the frames to your face offers honest and helpful feedback. Everyone is extremely friendly. Stamper is the best in SF hands-down. I had another optometrist before Stamper and it was glaring how awful he was after I had a taste of how amazing the experience can be at Stamper. I've been going here since I was in Middle School and I needed to start wearing glasses. I've gone through quite a few Optometrists and Sales Reps but I've always had a great experience. They are fast and efficient. There's a reason why the appointments are so far out, it's because they're that good. They also have a nice selection of frames for various budgets. Dr. Bruce Stamper is a real find in the world of optometry! He has--no pun intended--seen every variation of every eye problem possible and is knowledgeable about them. He is kind and patient when asking how your vision reacts to the different glass circles and does not try to speed you through the test like some doctors do. He has a great sense of humor and a cheerful attitude. Although it is extra, I highly recommend the retinal scan. It allows Dr. Stamper to display your retina on his computer and point out if there are any problems or if things seem OK. You can then ask more informed questions about your eye health than in an ordinary exam. Dr. Stamper gets a five+ rating. I am a local San Franciscan and My first eye doctor was Dr Bruce Stamper when I was in high school….. I am now 51 years old and two of my sons get their help with prescriptions here. Dr David and his team don’t disappoint. Thank you Dr Stamper! You guys are rock solid! I've been going to David Stamper at Stamper Optometry for well over 20 years because it's always a positive experience. He and everyone who works there are fantastic at what they do and the customer services is always excellent. They have a wide selection of frames and do a great job of making sure you know your options and the financial breakdown. I can't recommend them highly enough. I'm very pleased with Stamper Optometry. Everyone from the person who greets you at the door to the eye glass/frames specialist to the office assistant is very professional and knowledgeable about the business. Dr. David Stamper is a very good at his job and friendly. I've been going to their office for over 15 years. They are 5 stars! I have been a customer of Stamper Optometry since the late 90's early 2000's. I have been examined by Dr. Stamper before he retired, and the staff has always been professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. I highly recommend Stamper Optometry if you are looking for a place where you want the best service in eye care in San Francisco. I love Stamper Optometry! I've been going to them for twenty years and they always deliver great glasses for my difficult to fill prescription and my picky taste in frames. Just picked up a pair today and they were perfect! Also impressive in this period is the amount of care they are taking with COVID-safe protocols, limiting the number of people in the office at any time and diligently cleaning all the counters between customers. If you live in SF, check out Stamper Optometry! Excellent doctors and staff with a great selection of frames. Thank you Stamper Optometry! I have been going to Stamper Optometry for about 5 years it has been the best care I have received. I’m so happy a pretty pair of glasses led me to walk in. It is a little pricey compared to others such as Costco but the quality is incomparable. All staff has been amazing! Repairs have never been a problem. So nice and great service. Quick eye exams possible without appointment. Good collection available, even newer models. I've never done this but I'm a little upset because I've always bought my glasses in this place and I've never had a problem until today. A month ago I went to do my eye exam to get new glasses and they told me it would take 3 weeks and it's been more than 1 month and I told them that my case was something special that I needed it because I will do my driver's license and whenever I call they tell me that in that week they will be ready and they gonna call me but I still haven't received anything from them Terrible service. 1st time I had issues with my prescription. I've been going to Dr. Stampers office for 6 years. I never saw Dr. Stamper but all of the Optometrists I saw were very nice and knowledgeable and took time to answer all my questions. They also have a machine that you can pay extra for so that you do not have to get your eyes dilated. As far as getting glasses they seem to only have very expensive glasses frames and none that I really liked, but they will put new lenses into your old glass frames, order cheaper glasses from their suppliers or put lenses into glasses that you buy online. They are in network for VSP. They also did a good job during covid and still have some precautions in place. The staff at Stamper are knowledgable and incredibly friendly. The Optometrist who examined my daughter (14 years old) was good with her and me, and was able to get the right prescription for her unusual vision. She found the glasses she wanted quickly, too. Great selection. Take the bus because parking isn't easy in the Mission...but Stamper is well worth it! Great service, very pleasant staff, timely appointments. Clear explanations regarding diagnosis. This was my second experience with Stamper. The first one was a five star, but this time around was a complete disappointment. I emailed a request to make a followup appointment. I received two responses with runaround options. All I needed were two dates to choose from and they never followed up totally dropping the ball. Rather than complain, I took my business elsewhere totally disappointed. If they were understaffed, that should have been communicated and I could have worked with that, but nothing. Getting glasses has always been a stressful time for me but when I came in for new prescriptions, I was at ease from the friendly staff despite there being a lot of customers. Everyone was very helpful in explaining my insurance options and suggesting frames that fit my style and budget! There's lots of frame options and brands carried at this store. They're also quick to help with any glasses fitting issues! It was a good experience. Dr. Stamper has a great chair side manner and it's obvious he knows what he's doing. I will say paying $1,000.00 for one pair of glasses and that doesn't even include the frame, is really ridiculously expensive. I have been getting my eye exams with Dr. Stamper's office for many years and have received the most comprehensive eye exam using the latest equipment. The optometrists have a caring attitude and are experienced, competent professionals. I feel I'm in good hands when I get my eyes examined at this office because I know they will be thorough. Dr. Stamper discovered that I had cataracts in my left eye and gave me an excellent referral to a doctor who performed the surgery with excellent results. Thank you to all the staff who are courteous, patient, and very helpful in every way! I had a fantastic time at Stamper Optometry! I never imagined that the first Google review I ever wrote would be for an Optometry office, but I had such a wonderful experience, I had to post! The office was very clean, the staff were friendly, and my contacts were estimated to take a week to arrive, but they arrived in a single day! My optometrist was very forthcoming with my prescription (in the past, my old optometrist made it hard for me to attain, I assume to drive more sales through their own frames), so now I can go to other retailers for stylish frames! Now that I write this, I regret not looking at the frames they had in the office... If you're looking for a new optometrist, you can stop looking, and just choose Stamper. I'm doubtful you'll find a better place! I have been coming here for years the staff is professional and familiar with me and my family making the visits relaxing. They make it a point to know my history before I enter the exam which I appreciate. Stamper texted me saying my prescription glasses are ready. I call them and confirm that I can come between 4:30-5pm to pick up my glasses and also fit it if it needs tightening/loosening. The answer was yes. I get there during that time and the young lady who comes to the entrance space asks me if I needed anything. I tell her that I am here to pick up my glasses and also might need to fit it if it’s loose. There was only 3 other customers in their big waiting room, all chairs empty and the lady tells me to step outside on the sidewalk and check my glasses and then come in if it needs fitting. I asked if I can sit on one of the chairs and try out my glasses. She refused to allow that. I had my mask on. The place was basically empty and yet this is how they treat their customers. Very inhumane and rude. Had a great experience with Stamper during my first visit for an eye /contact lense exam and then selecting new glasses. They worked seamlessly with my insurance and answered all my classes. I love that they are in the neighborhood as well! Dr. Hansen was fantastic, and really listened to my work lifestyle to help me decide on glasses to help with my far distance, but also a set of glasses that help reduce the strain on my eyes for long computer work for everyday. However, I had the worst experience with the newer staff member Jessica. At first, things seemed fine and she was helpful in deciding the frames. However, when they arrived, the order was completely wrong. Somehow, the blue light filter, which is only used for reducing blue light from electronics, was put on my distance lenses and in the wrong, cheap frame (since I was not wearing distance glasses every day, I chose a cheaper frame). When I told her this didn't make sense, the blue light would obviously be for close-up glasses for the computer, she proceeded to tell me for 30 minutes how she only writes down what the customer wants, and it was most definitely my fault and NOT her fault at all. Not to mention she didn't mention (or likely even notice) my two frames were two different sizes, and was obviously large on my face. That too was apparently my fault because I picked them out because I liked the design. This is my first set of glasses, so how am I supposed to know how they fit?! Isn't that her job? She NEVER admitted any fault, and told me it was my fault every chance she got. She was very rude and clearly upset at me for the mistake, but never got a manager involved to make sure I was satisfied with how to proceed, and just told me she would send them back (and wouldn't even rush the order. took 2 weeks to get them back). To top it off, they made me pay the $5 difference for clearly their mistake. Someone should have caught that error to begin with if they knew what they were doing (blue light always means electronics and NO ONE is looking at electronics at a long distance). Horrible experience and will never be back. It was a shame too because the doctor, and the staff that helped me afterward (Paul and Jose), were fantastic. If Jessica wasn't sure about the order, she could have asked my freaking DOCTOR, who prescribed the lens and filter, to easily clarify for her. I felt obligated to post when I saw the low star rating. I've been going to see Dr. Hansen at Stamper for years, and have had only positive experiences. They've worked with me to make sure my contacts are covered by insurance (since I have such poor vision), are on-time with appointments, and I've never felt rushed out the door. Once again Stamper Optometry NAILED IT. Harvesting quality glasses to choose from. Coming in receiving great service from Arlette. Leaving out with the great execution of awesome customer service from Aury. Leaving San Francisco feeling like a new chapter of your life. When you have a fantastic pair of prescription glasses with a topping of great customer service. Thank you Stamper Optometry and Dr. Stamper...you guys know you're the best. I was a customer here for years, and had referred friends to the office. Stamper made an insurance billing error and tried to bill me for their mistake. If you get insurance authorizations from them, make sure to get it in writing, so you don't run into the same frustration I did! I'm out the free $180 for the year from my 2019 insurance, because Stamper staff "didn't think it was a big deal". It's incredibly frustrating because I had confirmed with Stamper staff, and both 2019 and 2020 insurance companies, that I was able to take advantage of the contact stipend from both insurances. TLDR: Steer clear and take your business elsewhere! These guys just want to sell you more contacts than you need. And then they follow up incessantly to hound you to buy more. Really disliked my experience with them and will not be going back. Friendly staff and sales people, though beware they will immediately throw the most expensive frames at you first if you're buying. Dr. Stamper was informative and friendly. Prices for exams I think are a little cheaper than elsewhere I looked. I don't think they have any really cheap frames. As you can probably tell, money is an issue for me, so spending on new frames/glasses gives me a heart attack. They did need 2 attempts to get my lenses correctly fabricated, so the nearly month long delay was a bummer, but that is not something they do on site and they were courteous and prompt about rectifying it. And I will also say they are willing to be fair when it comes to billing issues, but I'll spare you the details of that. Best eye specialists in the city !!! Amazing staff and doctor !’ Stay away from this terrible, horrible place! Their staff is rude, ghetto and dismissive, unless you buy expensive glasses. They promised a 2-week turnaround for lenses replacement and it has been a month and they're still not ready. They jack up the prices of eyeglasses and sunglasses so high they are so ridiculous! These people are greedy monsters! Let me repeat, stay away from Stamper Optometry! New to San Francisco and the owner before me recieved a follow up reminder in the mail for Stamper Optometry. I called immediately as I had run out of contacts three weeks earlier and was in desperate need of a prescription correction for my glasses. The phone was answered within two rings by the nicest front office gal named, Araceli. She walked me through their practice, verified my insurance, and offered me a next day appointment! So meant to be! Upon arriving to Stamper Optometry, I was blown away with how busy their office was. Typically, I'd consider this a good thing... but with the current COVID-19 health scare, I became quite the accidental pain in the ass. Luckily, Araceli was onsite and yet again impressed me every step of the way! She came over the clarify payment options, pre-tested my eyesight for the doctor, and didn't judge me for asking her to wipe down every single piece of equipment my face had to touch (with me as witness). She actually made me laugh along the way which obviously boosted my comfort level in knowing I'm a bit of an over-thinker in ambiguous situations. I was seen by Dr. Daniel Situ a bit late, for no reason of his, but more due to a misunderstanding at the front. He provided EXCELLENT care, answered all of my questions, and even educated me on my eye images - despite me causing him to be late to his next appointment. There should be more doctors like this. More front office medical staff like this. Thank you, Stamper Optometry!! Can't wait to refer people to your practice. Never stop being genuine! Stamper Optometry is conveniently located right in the heart of the Mission, has a wonderful attentive, and dedicated staff, and they accept walk-in's . I can't say enough what a positive experience I had at SO. I would recommend them to everyone, and including my very own family. Dr. Bruce Stamper is an excellent optometrist and an all around nice guy. His office didn't take exception to my request for a copy of my prescriptions, the way a less ethical shop might. He is the 3rd optometrist I've used in San Francisco and I'll never have need of another! Best optometrists in the greater Bay Area! Highly professional, latest equipment, nice people, comfortable office and waiting area. I an very pleased with my new glasses and contacts, and can see so much better. Thanks, Stamper Optometry! Stamper Optometry is my go to place (over 4+ years) when wanting the experience of great Customer Service and selection of frames and eye health exams. I started coming to Stamper because I am total fan of TOM FORD -- never do they disappoint with the selections from Tom Ford frames, but also great options from L.A. Eyeworks and other designer glasses. The staff is accommodating and patient in helping you find the right pair. In addition, bilingual (Spanish) speakers. Located not far from 24th Street Bart Station. Open early on Saturdays as well. Helpful tip: plan ahead, make an appointment and make sure you have up-to-date info on your eye insurance...and then spend that VSP money! One of the screws of my glasses went off. I was about to take a flight so I walked there asking if they could help me. They refused because I didn’t buy my glasses there. Pretty lame especially since I am in the hunt for a new optometrist. I gave them 2 stars because she mentioned a place that could help me on Valencia. I have been a client/patient there for many years and only had the best experience with eye exams, getting glasses( great choice of frames) and the staff is wonderfully patient . Any repair or adjustment needed much later is done right away. worthy of 5 stars...!! I have been going for the last 12 years and they are the best! I used to be prone to eye infections and they found dailies that are strong enough for me. They are always up to date with the newest and latest technology but still get to know your lifestyle to help you make the right decisions. Certain contacts are not good if you stay up late or forget them for a day. The staff is great too and Jose will fix your glasses if you drop in. I highly recommend them! The optimap system is also great so you don't have to spend hours with the dark sunglasses to dilate your eyes. Also they were the only ones who were able to help me pick out a frame for glasses where I didn't look completely silly! 10 stars for that. Great experience! The whole staff is always super kind & helpful. I've seen different OD since my first year there and I'm always pleased. They always answer all the questions that I have and take the necessary time to help you. Good customer attention and professional services 👍 … I have long been of fan of Stamper Family Optometry and now more than ever. I'm so happy I found Dr. David of the Stamper Clan. ( Three generations of eye docs in this office since 1913. ) After wearing hard contact lenses since age twelve other doctors told me I'd never be able to wear soft lenses. Dr. David, as opposed to his Uncle, Dr. Bruce (called by their first names to avoid the confusion of having two Doctor Stampers in the same office, ) suggested I take a lens holiday. After six months of only wearing glasses I returned and Dr. David was surprised but excited that my corneas looked nearly normal. Decades of polymer plastic lenses do tend to reshape the eye. Mine bounced back like memory foam! Next we discussed my options. Bi-focal glasses? No. Contacts and reading glasses? No. What about monocular vision? I dunno. He explained and said it wasn't for everyone but I said I was willing to give it a try. First he determined my dominate eye. This is the eye you use when looking through the viewfinder on a camera or a rifle for that matter. It usually corresponds to your dexterity. He then fitted my dominant left eye for distance vision. Then my right eye was fitted for close-up. He said some people know within an hour if they can do it or not. I was required to stay on the premises for an hour in the event I was one of those people who get nauseous or dizzy. I must say at first the concept alone almost made me cross-eyed but now I think of it as the Poor Man's Lasik Surgery. I could read the clock on a building a block away, I could read the tiny print in a text message and was relieved I didn't have to fumble about for my "reading glasses" to wear over my contacts like I had been doing for way too long. I was hooked in the first fifteen minutes. No integration issues for my brain! I don't miss seeing things in stereo, in fact my sight seems to be the best it's ever been and the contacts feel like a dream compared to the old school blind child hard lenses I endured for decades. Dr. David s a great find, he specializes in the "hard to fit" eye. The multi-lingual staff is another big plus. Jhosy got me up to speed on soft lens insertion and removal including a special tip for us "long-nailed" girls. Sweet Esmerelda gave me the visual test; while Jose was busy tightening my sunglasses that were slipping down my nose but took it a step further and replaced the screw! Sixteen employees, some there ten to twenty years, multi-tasking with the synchronicity of a Swiss watch in their daily routine. The customer service and commitment to the patient's satisfaction is outstanding! Hi!, Given my age, as well as my bad luck, I've had, and currently have, some health … They make him wait a long time Great selection of fashionable frames. Prices are good but not Costco or online level. Service is excellent and staff ensure that frames fit perfectly Had a great experience there. I came in with glasses i bought off the internet, and they helped me adjust the frame to my needs. Also answered a lot of my questions and didn't charge a penny for everything. From the outside it looks a bit dull, but inside you'll find a very competent and helpful team! I have been going to them for over 30 years, Never had a problem they were not willing to fix, they are always accommodating, and treat everyone like family,🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I love them!♥️🎄🎄♥️happy holidays everyone!♥️🎄 … Dr. Stamper and staff has always done 10000000% I have been with Stamper Optometry for about 30 years. They are state of the art, competent and trustworthy. I highly recommend them! This office is very disorganized - (i) they forgot to ask me to take out my contacts for the pre-test so the pre-test results were useless (ii) they said I could walk-in at 9AM, then they called me to tell me they arranged a 915 … As a third generation, 60+ year client, with now a fourth generation going forward, I can assure you that there is no better Optometric Practice than the Stamper Family. In the Mission, the GOAT👍 … Love these guys! Very professional, old school family run business (over 100 years). They are nice, polite and very profressional. Selection is great too! DR. DAVID STAMPER IS THE ONLY . . . I'll say it again . . . THE ONLY OPTOMETRIST I WOULD EVER EVER EVER SEE. He is tops. Don't even consider going anywhere else. The staff is phenomenal - thorough and efficient. The doctor seems pretty knowledgeable and professional. The equipments they use seems pretty advanced, and the clerks seems pretty polite and professional too. Been going to Stamper for 5 years, love everything about this place. The staff explains everything well and walks through the details. Highly recommended. Great customer service, staff is efficient and knows their stuff. Been coming here for over 10 years and have never had any issues. Highly recommend this place! Been with them for over 20 years but now they are refusing me contact lenses that I need as an emergency before setting up my 2 year visit Great customer service and bedside manner, answered all my questions, patiently helped me pick out glasses, didn't try to push expensive or extra products on me. Great place! The space is clean and professional. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. The Dr is funny! Is a wonderful experience each time I visit. Fantastic experience, as usual. Took my whole family and we were in and out quickly.. Staff is always so patient and helpful. A highly professional but low pressure practice in the heart of the Mission. I am very satisfied the the thorough exams and selections. Thay are so nice and the glasses are really well made ! I'm a life long customer from now on ! I have been visiting Stamper Optometry for over 20 years and they have consistently provided friendly and competent service. I had to order more contacts last minute and Stamper is always accommodating and helpful. Great knowledgeable staff, modern equipment, great frame selection (and the staff are very good at helping you choose if you aren't sure) Friendly and efficient staff. Thumbs up for Dr. Situ, who is patient with my shy kid and has an easy bedside manner Don’t waist your time at this place. They are only after the money its been a year and my glasses are still messed they don’t even work at all . Go to a professional optometry Great service! Made getting my first contacts very easy and painless. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, go out of their way to help you. Efficient appointments and quality service Everyone who works here is incredibly helpful, getting questions answered or requests handled takes no effort at all! I've always had great highly professional service at the friendly place, highly recommended. The best Optometry in the Bay area. I recommend it. Very good service. they charge a lot and their glass work is horrible 3 times and they couldn't even give me some working glasses Dr. Stamper was nice, but the office staff are borderline rude and ultimately very incompetent. Old School ethics and latest science. All good. They are quick to respond, professional, helpful, and fantastic with follow up... Excellent care and friendly efficient staff! tried to move my confirmed appointment for no reason Couldn't be a more knowledgeable, concerned, Optometrist. The best. Fantastic service, clean office. ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL AND SUPER HELPFUL. Dr. Stamper is the best! excellent service AAA+++++++ On Thursday, September 12, 2024, I called by phone to make an appointment for my wife and I, the receptionist told me that to make an appointment for my wife I had to register again and call two days before the appointment for October with … The attention of both the Dr and the employees is the most horrible, they made a mistake and they didn't know how to solve it, they stole my money, well my insurance, very bad costumer service pls don't go there

Value for Money & Pricing Transparency
While many clients feel that the quality of the service and product selection justifies the cost, there is significant feedback regarding overpriced frames and costly lens services compared to other providers. Billing inconsistencies and insurance authorization issues have also caused frustration, suggesting that clearer communication about pricing and financial policies could enhance customer trust.
Timeliness & Efficiency
Quick appointments, some even on the same day, and efficient checkups are frequently mentioned as positive traits of the practice. However, delays in follow-up appointments and extended waits for critical lens replacements were a source of dissatisfaction for some patients, hinting at occasional operational bottlenecks in scheduling.
Professionalism & Trustworthiness
Many reviews praise the professionalism and long-standing dedication of the Stamper family optometry team, instilling a deep trust among their loyal clientele. The commitment to thorough exams and high-quality care is evident, though isolated comments about rude behavior and billing errors indicate that maintaining a uniformly high professional standard remains an area for further attention.
Facility, Environment & Ambience
The office is generally described as clean, modern, and comfortable, with a tech-forward approach that includes the latest eye care equipment and COVID-safe protocols. While the overall ambience is positive, some clients noted that the physical space and external appearance could be improved to better reflect the high level of service provided inside.
Accessibility & Convenience
Conveniently located in the Mission with options for walk-in visits and easy-to-reach public transportation, the practice is accessible for many. Some customers, however, experienced administrative hurdles when trying to schedule or reschedule appointments, highlighting the need for improved responsiveness in urgent situations.
Problem Resolution & Follow-up
The staff is generally proactive in addressing issues, with many positive remarks regarding timely repairs, efficient resolution of lens errors, and helpful follow-up after appointments. Conversely, a few reviews detail unsatisfactory follow-up processes and unresolved billing disputes, which detracted from the overall experience for those patients.
Unique Strengths & Areas for Improvement
Stamper Optometry’s unique strengths lie in its deep expertise, personalized service, extensive frame selections, and a long heritage of eye care excellence. Notable strengths include the engaging manner of doctors like Dr. Stamper and his successors and the use of advanced diagnostic technology. Areas for improvement include enhanced scheduling flexibility, clearer pricing transparency, and more empathetic customer service, particularly when handling errors or complaints, to ensure that every interaction meets the high standards many clients expect.
