He began working at a boutique tax firm in East Los Angeles, where he put in long hours and studied IRS code. His overall goals were to help others with their finances while building generational wealth for his own family of six. His strong work ethic, enterprising nature, and tireless devotion to creating a brighter future paid off: he eventually purchased the tax firm of his employer and later incorporated Rodriguez Tax Services in 1985. The business was a family affair: his daughter Alexandra stuffed envelopes for mailers, Andrea sealed envelopes, Andres Jr. (“Andy”) stamped the envelopes, Gema sorted customer addresses, and his wife Imelda took everything to the post office to mail. Today, Andres Sr. and Imelda are now retired while Alexandra owns her own accounting firm in Boyle Heights, Andrea heads up Maurice Joffe Tax Services in Santa Monica, and Gema works as an independent accountant.
