Reviews
A Quick Look at Customer Sentiment
The reviews of Seton Medical Center reveal a wide disparity in patient experiences. Many express deep dissatisfaction with the emergency department—citing long waits, poor communication, unclean facilities, and unprofessional or even racist behavior—while other areas such as top surgery, wound care, and certain specialized departments receive praise for quality treatment, kindness, and efficiency. Billing inconsistencies and unclear pricing also feature prominently, with many calling for improved responsiveness and modernization of the facility.
Deep Dive: Detailed Analysis of Customer Reviews
We’ve gathered and analyzed reviews from real customers across the web to give you an in-depth look at their experiences with AHMC Seton Medical Center. Here’s what people are saying about their service quality, professionalism, and reliability:
Overall Experience & Satisfaction
Patients' experiences vary greatly, with a significant number describing the emergency department as inefficient, unclean, and lacking empathy, leading to overall dissatisfaction and distress. In contrast, some specialized services like top surgery, wound care, and psychiatric care have been positively recognized, contributing to a mixed overall impression of the hospital.
Service Quality & Expertise
While several reviewers praised the expertise of certain physicians and specialized teams—citing commendable performances in top surgery, wound care, and even some critical care cases—many criticized misdiagnoses, wrong medication administration, and poor decision-making in the ER. Specific mentions include both positive experiences with teams like those of Dr. Boucher and negative encounters with providers such as Dr. Crane and inconsistencies surrounding Dr. Sahak's care.
Customer Service & Communication
Communication appears to be a critical weakness, particularly in the emergency department where patients often felt rushed, ignored, or even belittled. Numerous accounts detail interactions with staff using condescending or dismissive language, although there are instances where some nurses and physicians took the time to clearly explain procedures and provide compassionate support.
Value for Money & Pricing Transparency
Many reviews express frustration over inconsistent billing practices and unexpected charges, with patients reporting multiple bills, miscellaneous fees, and even lost records affecting insurance claims. Despite these concerns, a minority of patients felt that the specialized services offered some value when coupled with quality care.
Timeliness & Efficiency
Timeliness is a consistent issue for many, as patients recount long wait times—even in serious emergencies—and delays in test results and treatments. Some positive accounts mention a smooth and prompt process in specialized departments, highlighting the stark contrast between different hospital services.
Professionalism & Trustworthiness
The level of professionalism is highly variable. Many reviews highlight unprofessional behavior from doctors, nurses, or hospital assistants, including rudeness, dismissiveness, and even discriminatory remarks. However, some reviewers also noted caring, respectful, and trustworthy interactions from individual staff members who went beyond expectations.
Facility, Environment & Ambience
Concerns about the physical environment are frequent, with descriptions of dirty, outdated, and uncomfortable spaces, particularly in the ER and waiting areas. Conversely, some departments are noted for having a more modern ambiance and a cleaner appearance, though these positives seem overshadowed by the overall condition of the facility.
Accessibility & Convenience
Many patients experienced difficulties with accessibility, ranging from long wait times upon arrival to challenges in contacting the hospital for follow-ups, scheduling tests, or resolving billing issues. The overall impression is that the hospital’s systems are cumbersome and not always patient-friendly.
Problem Resolution & Follow-up
There is a clear need for better follow-up protocols, with several cases of unresolved issues, lost documentation, and no assurance that patient concerns were addressed post-treatment. While some reviews mention attempts by management to respond to complaints, the lack of effective resolution remains a critical concern.
Unique Strengths & Areas for Improvement
Standout strengths include positive experiences in specialized care areas, effective treatment from individual clinicians (such as noted supportive nurses and certain doctors), and moments of efficient response in critical cases. However, significant improvements are needed in the emergency department concerning communication, wait times, facility cleanliness, billing transparency, and consistent professional conduct across all staff members. These mixed experiences highlight the urgent call for systemic improvements and modernization to meet patient expectations consistently.
